Things are heating up at Juana’s Pagodas and Sailors’ Grill on Navarre Beach.
The area’s best chili chefs will don their aprons and add their secret ingredients in the 18th annual charity chili cook-off on October 23. The event benefits Caring and Sharing of Santa Rosa County.
It’s an opportunity to sample more than 25 different chilis, ranging from traditional red to white chilies, chicken chilies and those with a whole lot of beans.
The event also features the annual volleyball tournament, which is open to teams of four in several different divisions with prizes for the winning teams.
By the end of October the weather is cool and perfect for sampling some spicy chili and getting out on Juana’s sand courts, which offer breezes and a beautiful view of Santa Rosa Sound.
Volleyball registration begins at 11 a.m. with a noon start. Chilli set up at noon with tasting from 2 to 4 p.m..
